Lynne Burgess
Elected Director
I was born and brought up in Ayr and have family connections to Barrhill so visited regularly throughout my life. Since 2020, we’ve been renovating our house in Barrhill (timing is everything!) and we finally managed to move in on Christmas Eve 2023.
I’ve been lucky enough to have a varied work life across public, private and third sectors and covering areas including health, education, tourism and hospitality and currently work in a local authority. I’m really interested in community led economic development and in working to having a wellbeing-based economy. I think we are very lucky in Barrhill to have the resource to be able to develop our community and look forward to working together to make the most of this opportunity.
In terms of qualifications and experience, I’m a qualified secondary school teacher, have a business degree and a postgraduate diploma in sustainable rural development. My work life experience varies from cleaning toilets to managing multi-million pound budgets and I’m really keen to use that to support development in Barrhill that the community wants to see. I’m also a trustee of the Galloway and South Ayrshire Biosphere.

Lynn Douglas-Buck
Elected Director
I was born in West Yorkshire. My early career was in retail and retail management in a department store, part of the Co-operative group. Following this, my subsequent career was in banking, firstly for TSB and then as Bank Manager for Lloyds. Part of my time with Lloyds was spent in Scotland.

Following retirement my husband and I returned to Scotland and over the last 8 years firstly lived in the Trossachs area, then near St Andrews in Fife.

Since moving to Barrhill in June 2023, we have enjoyed being part of a welcoming community. I have enjoyed immersing myself in village life and taking an active part in various groups and activities.

My aim is to assist in the promotion and further development of new and existing assets and activities and the future of the Barrhill community.

Elected Director, Treasurer
I am a retired nurse and arrived in Barrhill seven years ago, after spending twelve years as a volunteer at hospitals in Malawi (during which time I was awarded an MBE for services to health and education). Over the years I have had a number of voluntary roles in a variety of organisations. I am keen to see the residents of Barrhill get maximum benefit from the funds administered by BCIC.
